Dear Club Managers, Members, Sportsmen and Friends!

2009
and 2010 are the years of dragon boat sport in Hungary. The IDBF European
Championship are held in Budapest and the ICF World Championships in Szeged. What
do these two championships have in common? The
official boat provider for both of them is Swift Racing, which utilizes the
Chinese traditional values and complements them with US technology and design
to produce one of the best value and quality dragon boats in the world. Its
not a mere coincidence that according to the high purchase figures these boats
are the most popular in Hungary and in the neighbouring countries. Dragon
boating is very popular and is one of the dynamically developing sports
nowadays with growing number of both amateur and professional sportsmen; it is
good for building team spirit and is a good way of relaxing as well.Noticing
the emerging growth of the market we have developed a unique purchase and
service base, which sells not only second-hand and new boats and spare parts
from the stock, but we provide service within the guarantee period and beyond
it with highly qualified staff within short notice even on the venue.

Technical characteristics:

customers to design the best boats)

Utilisation:

Non-slippery floor

Simple transportation on the
ground (there are ergonomic lifting handles built in the side-walls)

Bent seats, foot pieces,
spacious area between the seats

Spare parts can be fitted
easily and quickly

Simple surface transportation
as the tail part is removable so there is no need for extra transportation
permit.

Sporting qualities:

Fats: in 2009 new world record

Dragon Boat World Championships Are Nearly Upon Us

The 2,400-metre long, 122-metre wide regatta course, located a few
kilometres south of the Hungarian city of Szeged, is an artificial
course of reliable conditions. Extremely popular with athletes and fans
alike, competitors are not troubled with varying water flow as the
course is well sheltered from strong winds. Of a high competition
standard, the Szeged course has 6 lanes with a separate warm-up line.
Electronic time keeping, photo finish cameras and video recording bring
it right up to the mark. Furthermore, another reason for selecting
Szeged was to ensure live and recorded television coverage which will be
shown in Asia and Europe. The Hungarian Canoe Federation asked the ICF
to change from Budapest to allow better TV production and therefore
increase the viewership of this exciting discipline around the world.

The competition programme, for August's World Championships,
includes 27 events of the regular Dragon Boat World Championships
programme in 20-seater boats as you can see the details below.
In
addition to these 27 races, the new 10-seater events being introduced in
Szeged means there are three additional races; the Men's 200m, the
Women's 200m, and the Mixed 200m.

Programme of Events

they are delighted to be contributing the 10-seater boats as well as
the 20-man boats. The ICF was the first to officially add these new
10-seater Dragon Boats to the Dragon Boat World Championship and this
addition to the programme is indeed a great opportunity for National
Federations to send teams given the difficulty of gathering 20-seater
teams. Another benefit brought by the Worlds in Szeged is the
possibility to try the actual racing boats from 23rd August.
Furthermore, the boats will be available for sale after the competition.

This Saturday will already see the fourth regional final in Balatonfüred. Let's recall what has happened so far!

Fifty boats, fierce fights, pleasant temperature and a big crowd of fans - this marked the beginning of the national Roadshow leading to the 2010 Dragon Boat World Championships. Companies, villages, elementary- and secondary schools, and universities competed on this day, moreover there were even three boats with youngsters with disabilities and older ones paddling. On the 350 m distance the boat Patent Security formed by former kayakers and canoeists made it through to the final in place one among the companies, while the team of EXEK Győr also having ex-kayakers and canoeists as the crew triumphed in the battle among the settlements.

‘What is good in dragon boating is that even absolute amateurs can enjoy it. It's not a big deal at all, you can acquire the movement within a few minutes, you simply need power and sense of rhythm, I can just recommend it to everybody' - summarized Ábrahám Zoltán, the head of the team of ex-s the very essence of this sport.

In Nagykanizsa the amateurs did even catch on, as there were 106 entries to the contest repeated due to the storm. The figures show there is a huge interest for this sport in the town, although there is no dragon boat owned by any union, club or company. The organizers put boats at disposal for training a week prior to the event, and those wishing to enter did even use the training possibilities. The Swimmers of Nagykanizsa managed to get accustomed to each other so much that they even earned the right of participation at the final in Szeged. "One of the parents recommended to be at the start of this event, as this sport has an excellent team-forming role - adds Polgár Sándor, team captain and coach of Nagykanizsa Swimmers, his team competed in the race for settlements. Our young swimmers and their parents sat in the boat, and we were also surprised how favourably this race ran for us. The atmosphere was frantic this weekend, being a swimming coach I would be highly pleased to be able to take the kids to such competitions:"

In Nagykanizsa the team of Pannon Pellet finished in the top position among the contest of the companies- The team members are experienced water people, as Burján Zoltán team captain added: their young age was spent on Lake Csónakázó.

In Szarvas an ideal surrounding and a heat of 35 °C expected the participants. The dragons paddled the water on the Town Strand section of Holt Kőrös, and the best result was achieved by the Szarvas Dragons and Bagoly Vendéglő with the former world champion kayaker, Pankotai Gábor among them. The past as kayaker and canoeist naturally dominated here as well, as Szarvas Dragon took the victory in the final despite a paddle break, which they routinely overcame.
The Hungarian Canoe Federation invites the lovers of this sport to Tagore sétány in Balatonfüred on 26 June. The representatives of settlements, companies, and schools will again compete now on Lake Balaton, moreover there will be a special media race and the masters and the professional crews will also compete here in the qualification for the world championships.
